A Passaic man, meanwhile, was jailed on attempted murder charges in connection with the assault.

The victim -- who'd been beaten in neighboring Westwood -- ended up on the hood of the car Tuesday night before landing outside a house on Catherine Court, local sources said.

He was flown by AirMed One to Hackensack University Medical Center after a local firefighter found him on the curb, neighbors said.

An alert was issued soon after for a silver BMW SUV or truck.

The following day, Bergen County prosecutor's detectives arrested Bryan Ortigoza, 19, of Passaic on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Ortigoza -- a Nutley native who records show was arrested on drug charges out of Essex County last May -- remained held in the Bergen County Jail.

A juvenile was taken into custody on Friday and served with a delinquency complaint.

A third suspect was being sought.

The victim, meanwhile, remained intubated at HUMC on Saturday and likely will be paralyzed for life, sources with direct knowledge of the incident said.
